PLAYA DEL CARMEN wedding photographer in Riviera Maya – Photography in Mexico & Europe
Hi! I’m Antonio, a destination wedding photographer based in Mexico, and Playa del Carmen is one of the destinations I return to most.
Playa del Carmen sits at the heart of the Riviera Maya, halfway between Cancún and Tulum, and it combines the energy of a cosmopolitan town with the natural beauty of the Caribbean coast. La Quinta Avenida runs parallel to the beach, lined with restaurants, boutiques and a vibrant street life that gives PDC a character unlike any other resort destination in Mexico. The wedding scene here is equally diverse, from grand beachfront resorts like Paradisus La Perla, Grand Velas Riviera Maya and Hyatt Zilara to intimate boutique properties like Viceroy Riviera Maya, private villa estates like Villa La Joya, and the spectacular multi-venue complex of Hoteles Xcaret, where cenotes, jungle and Caribbean beach come together in one property. Playa del Carmen also serves as an ideal base for couples wanting to incorporate a cenote ceremony or a Tulum excursion into their wedding week.
I specialize in blending editorial and documentary wedding photography, present throughout your day without ever getting in the way. I work both in digital and on film, and the lush contrast of jungle and Caribbean turquoise that defines this stretch of coastline translates beautifully to analog photography.
Whether you’re planning an all-inclusive resort celebration, an intimate villa wedding or a ceremony in a cenote, I’d be honored to be there with you.

PLAYA DEL CARMEN on film — analog wedding photography
The Riviera Maya light has a richness to it that comes from the combination of Caribbean ocean, tropical vegetation and the limestone geology underneath. In Playa del Carmen, that light shifts throughout the day from a bright, saturated midday white to a warm, golden hour that seems to linger. On analog film, those transitions become something genuinely beautiful, the grain softens the intensity of midday, and the warmth of late afternoon on film feels almost tangible.
For me, film isn’t a stylistic choice made for trends, it’s a deliberate creative decision. The slower pace it demands, the intentionality it requires, produces images that feel crafted rather than captured. Images that age beautifully.
I offer both fully analog collections and film add-ons to digital coverage. If you’re curious about incorporating film into your Bacalar wedding, just mention it when you get in touch.

Frequently asked questions
01.
How would you describe your approach to wedding photography?
My approach blends documentary and editorial instincts. For most of your day I stay invisible, capturing real moments as they unfold. During portraits I guide you gently, making sure you look and feel your best without spending too long away from your guests.
02.
Do you shoot on film in Playa del Carmen?
Yes, and I love it. The quality of light on the lagoon is exceptional for analog photography. I offer fully analog collections as well as film add-ons to digital coverage, just mention your interest when you get in touch.
03.
Can we meet or have a call before booking?
Absolutely. I’m always happy to jump on a video call to hear about your plans and answer any questions. It’s a great way to make sure we’re the right fit for each other before committing to anything.
04.
How far in advance should we book?
Most couples book around a year in advance, especially for peak season dates. I’d recommend reaching out as soon as you have a date in mind to check availability.
05.
When will we receive our photos?
You’ll receive a preview gallery within 48 hours of your wedding. The full edited collection is delivered within two months.
06.
