BACALAR wedding photographer in Riviera Maya – Photography in Mexico & Europe

Hi! I’m Antonio, a destination wedding photographer based in Mexico, and Bacalar is one of those places that genuinely takes my breath away every single time.

Bacalar is unlike anywhere else in Mexico. The Lagoon of Seven Colors shifts from deep midnight blue to crystalline turquoise depending on the light and the hour, and that light, that quality of water and sky, makes for wedding photographs that feel truly one of a kind. It’s a place away from the crowds, intimate by nature, chosen by couples who want something real and unhurried.

I specialize in blending editorial and documentary wedding photography, present throughout your day without ever getting in the way. I work both in digital and on film, and for a destination as visually rich as Bacalar, analog photography adds a layer of warmth and timelessness that feels perfectly at home.

Whether you’re planning a ceremony on a private dock overlooking the lagoon, a dinner under the palapas of a boutique eco-resort, or something entirely your own, I’d be honored to be there with you.

Bacalar on film — analog wedding photography

Film wedding photography has a quality that’s difficult to describe but immediately recognizable, a warmth, a grain, a depth that digital images simply don’t replicate. In a place like Bacalar, where the light bounces off the lagoon in a way that already feels cinematic, shooting on analog film takes that beauty even further.

For me, film isn’t a stylistic choice made for trends, it’s a deliberate creative decision. The slower pace it demands, the intentionality it requires, produces images that feel crafted rather than captured. Images that age beautifully.

I offer both fully analog collections and film add-ons to digital coverage. If you’re curious about incorporating film into your Bacalar wedding, just mention it when you get in touch.

Frequently asked questions

01.

How would you describe your approach to wedding photography?

My approach blends documentary and editorial instincts. For most of your day I stay invisible, capturing real moments as they unfold. During portraits I guide you gently, making sure you look and feel your best without spending too long away from your guests.

02.

Do you shoot on film in Bacalar?

Yes, and I love it. The quality of light on the lagoon is exceptional for analog photography. I offer fully analog collections as well as film add-ons to digital coverage, just mention your interest when you get in touch.

03.

Can we meet or have a call before booking?

Absolutely. I’m always happy to jump on a video call to hear about your plans and answer any questions. It’s a great way to make sure we’re the right fit for each other before committing to anything.

04.

How far in advance should we book?

Most couples book around a year in advance, especially for peak season dates. I’d recommend reaching out as soon as you have a date in mind to check availability.

05.

When will we receive our photos?

You’ll receive a preview gallery within 48 hours of your wedding. The full edited collection is delivered within two months.

06.

Do you travel for weddings outside Bacalar?

Yes, I photograph weddings across Mexico, including Cancún, Tulum, Riviera Maya, Los Cabos, Puerto Vallarta, San Miguel de Allende and beyond. I’m also open to destinations outside Mexico.
