SAN MIGUEL DE ALLENDE wedding photographer – Photography in Mexico & Europe

Hi! I’m Antonio, a destination wedding photographer based in Mexico, and San Miguel de Allende is one of the most extraordinary places I get to work in.

San Miguel de Allende is unlike any beach destination in Mexico. A UNESCO World Heritage city in the highlands of Guanajuato, it rises from the high desert at over 1,800 meters above sea level, surrounded by mountains and bathed in a light that is entirely its own, golden, clear and soft in a way that the coastal humidity never allows. The city’s colonial architecture, its baroque churches, the pink stone of the Parroquia de San Miguel Arcángel against a blue sky, it’s a visual world that makes everything you photograph feel like it belongs to another century. Couples choose San Miguel because they want something rooted in culture and history, something that feels genuinely Mexican without the resort circuit. The hacienda scene here is remarkable: Luna Escondida, Casa Adela, Hacienda Los Arcángeles, Hacienda San José Lavista, Rancho Las Sabinas, each one a world unto itself, with gardens, vineyards, chapels, courtyards and mountain views that no beach resort can replicate.

I specialize in blending editorial and documentary wedding photography, present throughout your day without ever getting in the way. I work both in digital and on film, and the highland light of San Miguel, dry, directional and extraordinarily warm at golden hour, is some of the finest I’ve ever encountered for analog photography.

Whether you’re planning an intimate hacienda ceremony for fifty guests or a grand multi-day celebration with a callejoneada through the historic center, I’d be honored to be there with you.

SAN MIGUEL DE ALLENDE on film — analog wedding photography

The light in San Miguel de Allende is what photographers come back for. At over 1,800 meters altitude, the air is dry and clear, and the sun hits the stone and adobe of the city with a warmth and directness that the coast never produces. At golden hour, that light turns everything, the hacienda gardens, the quarry stone, the faces of your guests, into something that feels almost painted. On analog film, it’s extraordinary. The grain, the warmth, the depth, film doesn’t just capture San Miguel’s light, it amplifies it.

For me, film isn’t a stylistic choice made for trends, it’s a deliberate creative decision. The slower pace it demands, the intentionality it requires, produces images that feel crafted rather than captured. Images that age beautifully.

I offer both fully analog collections and film add-ons to digital coverage. If you’re curious about incorporating film into your Bacalar wedding, just mention it when you get in touch.

Frequently asked questions

01.

How would you describe your approach to wedding photography?

My approach blends documentary and editorial instincts. For most of your day I stay invisible, capturing real moments as they unfold. During portraits I guide you gently, making sure you look and feel your best without spending too long away from your guests.

02.

Do you shoot on film in San Miguel de Allende?

Yes, and I love it. The quality of light on the lagoon is exceptional for analog photography. I offer fully analog collections as well as film add-ons to digital coverage, just mention your interest when you get in touch.

03.

Can we meet or have a call before booking?

Absolutely. I’m always happy to jump on a video call to hear about your plans and answer any questions. It’s a great way to make sure we’re the right fit for each other before committing to anything.

04.

How far in advance should we book?

Most couples book around a year in advance, especially for peak season dates. I’d recommend reaching out as soon as you have a date in mind to check availability.

05.

When will we receive our photos?

You’ll receive a preview gallery within 48 hours of your wedding. The full edited collection is delivered within two months.

06.

Do you travel for weddings outside San Miguel de Allende?

Yes, I photograph weddings across Mexico, including Cancún, Tulum, Riviera Maya, Los Cabos, Puerto Vallarta, Baja California and beyond. I’m also open to destinations outside Mexico.
