ISLA MUJERES wedding photographer in Riviera Maya – Photography in Mexico & Europe

Hi! I’m Antonio, a destination wedding photographer based in Mexico, and Isla Mujeres is one of the most genuinely romantic places I’ve had the pleasure of working in.

Just a short ferry ride from Cancún, Isla Mujeres feels like a different world entirely. The island is small enough to cross on a golf cart, with colorful streets, a relaxed pace, and some of the most beautiful water in the Caribbean, Playa Norte is consistently ranked among the finest beaches in Mexico, with shallow turquoise water that stays calm even when the rest of the coast doesn’t.

Couples choose Isla Mujeres because it offers the accessibility of Cancún with none of the crowds, and venues like Zoetry Villa Rolandi, MÍA Reef, Impression Isla Mujeres and Casa de los Sueños deliver settings that feel genuinely intimate and special.

I specialize in blending editorial and documentary wedding photography — present throughout your day without ever getting in the way. I work both in digital and on film, and the Caribbean light on Isla Mujeres, especially at golden hour on Playa Norte, with that stillness over the water, is extraordinary for analog photography.

Whether you’re planning an intimate ceremony on a private pier, a sunset celebration on the beach, or a small gathering at a boutique hotel, I’d be honored to be there with you.

ISLA MUJERES on film — analog wedding photography

The light on Isla Mujeres has a stillness to it that I find remarkable. Because the island is protected from the open ocean, the water stays calm and the reflection of Caribbean sky onto the surface creates a quality of ambient light that’s almost impossible to replicate artificially. On analog film, that light becomes something genuinely special, warm, gentle, and timeless in a way that feels entirely right for a place like this.

For me, film isn’t a stylistic choice made for trends, it’s a deliberate creative decision. The slower pace it demands, the intentionality it requires, produces images that feel crafted rather than captured. Images that age beautifully.

I offer both fully analog collections and film add-ons to digital coverage. If you’re curious about incorporating film into your Bacalar wedding, just mention it when you get in touch.

Frequently asked questions

01.

How would you describe your approach to wedding photography?

My approach blends documentary and editorial instincts. For most of your day I stay invisible, capturing real moments as they unfold. During portraits I guide you gently, making sure you look and feel your best without spending too long away from your guests.

02.

Do you shoot on film in Isla Mujeres?

Yes, and I love it. The quality of light on the lagoon is exceptional for analog photography. I offer fully analog collections as well as film add-ons to digital coverage, just mention your interest when you get in touch.

03.

Can we meet or have a call before booking?

Absolutely. I’m always happy to jump on a video call to hear about your plans and answer any questions. It’s a great way to make sure we’re the right fit for each other before committing to anything.

04.

How far in advance should we book?

Most couples book around a year in advance, especially for peak season dates. I’d recommend reaching out as soon as you have a date in mind to check availability.

05.

When will we receive our photos?

You’ll receive a preview gallery within 48 hours of your wedding. The full edited collection is delivered within two months.

06.

Do you travel for weddings outside Isla Mujeres?

Yes, I photograph weddings across Mexico, including Cancún, Tulum, Riviera Maya, Los Cabos, Puerto Vallarta, San Miguel de Allende and beyond. I’m also open to destinations outside Mexico.
